The MNA Street Tree Committee was created in November, 2015. Work has included creating a street tree inventory, advocating for the preservation of street trees on the “cut list” in the Jenifer Street reconstruction, advocated for revisiting city of Madison cut list criteria and other policy changes, and networking with other older neighborhoods to develop broad-based support for City policy changes that will affect our urban forest.
The Street Tree Committee is now part of the combined Green Spaces and Trees Committee, which addresses a variety of park and garden issues in the neighborhood. We meet regularly on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm at A Place to Be on Williamson Street. Our work includes awarding annual improvement grants to individuals and organizations that work to improve public spaces in our neighborhood through beautification or by improving sustainability.
Committee Chair is J.Cheema
