Eastside Express Summer Camp Starts June 23

The 23rd Eastside Express summer camp for kindergarten through middle school age children starts Monday, June 23rd and will run through Friday, August 1st. The free drop-in program will be held at Marquette Elementary School field and is weather-dependent. To sign your kids up go here.

We welcome new camp director Geoff Blake-Horst to Eastside Express. Along with Geoff, the camp will be led by returning counselors: Xavier Bandera, Anna Chastain, Ben Converse, Siv Early, Stuart Fass, John Groat, Nora Haugen-Wente, Clare Johnson, Sawyer Jones, Jack Ludkey, Boyd McGlenn, Jaden McKiernan, Jack Ramsey, Eli Rubin-Calvert, Sean Thibideaux and Leo White, with Emma Hetzel as lead counselor. And joining us this year as junior counselors are: Gwyneth Alvarado, Emma Cruz, Jane Hobson, Mike Lafayette, Stella Ramsey, Tamar Rubin-Calvert and Nick White. All activities run 9:30am – Noon.

Each Friday (with the exception of July 4th — no camp that day) campers will bus to Rutabaga Paddle Sports for canoe and kayak lessons. This outing is available to campers entering 3rd grade and above due to Rutabaga’s insurance restrictions. Alternative programming will be available for younger campers at the Marquette field.

Check back for a full schedule of sports, crafts and recreational activities and adventures. It’s going to be a great summer!

Please note that Eastside Express is not a child care alternative. Parents/guardians must be reachable during camp hours and prepared to pick up their children should the weather turn or the child not wish to participate in camp activities.
